Hurricane Go-Away-Fay

What do you do when you've been looking so forward to your annual family beach trip, where you had big dreams of planting yourself beside the pool and/or beach with a good book (or multiple People Magazines you needed to catch up on) and never moving... but then... a hurricane comes and lands very south of you, and your beach manages to catch the outer bands of heavy rains and heavy winds for half of your trip?

I'll tell you. You play multiple games of Nertz with your sisters (and a few times your brother decides to join and despite the fact that he's 36 years old and the father of 2 children, he insists on cheating), you go to Boulevard Diner and the SC Aquarium with your nieces, sister, brother-in-law and dad, you obsessively check Facebook (not that that's very far out of the ordinary) and Drudge Report (VP picks time) and you take multiple walks. In the wind and rain. (We were desperate to get out of the house...)

I've taken somewhere around (ballpark guess here) maybe one million pictures with no way to upload any until tomorrow, so until then, use your imagination of how happy and tan my face is. And how much better I am at Nertz now (even though I thought that wasn't possible...)

Nowadays...

...one will most likely find me staring at this from the dock..

whilest laying out on the boat getting some sun

and playing fetch with this...

(My parents' fetch-obsessed dog Dixie)

I really can't complain. It's pretty much the life, and it seems almost like we've got the entire lake to ourselves -- or maybe that's just the way it is in the middle of the week when everyone is at work. Who knew?

"Turn" (Tucc) is coming over tomorrow to lay around on said dock, go out on said boat, swim in said lake and accompany me in my desperate quest for some sort of "wedding tan" lest I have to resort to getting one from a bottle.

Ya Never Know How Ya Look Til Ya Get Yer Picture Took

I have the best fiance in the entire world. It's true. I've said this many times before... the latest example? We (mostly by my begging) decided that we do need to have a digital camera. As a young married couple just starting out, we'll want to have photos of all of the fond memories to look back on one day. SO, in lieu of this revelation, he bid on (and won...for a great price, might I add...) a new Canon Digital Rebel just like my old one (minus the lense, since the thieves were not able to take that with them) and so now, once it arrives in the mail, I'll be able to shove yet another camera in peoples' faces all the time and document any and every second of my life and the lives of those around me.
Who here is excited?

Battlefield Surgery

Scoreboard:

Flower pot that fell, broke and stabbed Dad in the leg- 1 point
Dad- 1 point (the fact that he was able to perform surgery on himself and repair the wound inflicted by said flower pot evened out the score...)

I didn't take these pictures. I was hiding inside with Marjorie with a sick feeling in my stomach from the sight of the blood. Marcus, however, overcame his queasiness long enough to walk outside and capture the exciting moment on film. Can't wait to see these shots printed out and framed in the living room...these are some pictures for the ages...
