For the 3rd day in a row, we've had sun--gorgeous gorgeous sun. One thing I love about this place is that when it's sunny outside, people REALLY appreciate it and REALLY take advantage of it- and it's usually gross outside, but when it's pretty, it's really really pretty. I wouldn't be surprised if employers let workers out early... or even just gave them the day off. Since Brittany and I are unemployed anyway, our schedule was flexible yesterday and we were able to go check out a couple of parks- and it seemed like the rest of the city did the same. First we went to Wright Park which is right downtown. I've heard that on the second Sunday of every month, there are free concerts there. Our realtor told us that it used to be a really dangerous park, but that Churches in the area really started pouring some money and TLC into it and it's really turned around.
After that, we went over to Point Defiance Park - probably the most "famous" of the parks here in Tacoma (and there are a lot of them...). It's right at the most northern part of the city right on the water. It's pretty huge- there's a 5-mile loop that you can drive (or run or bike) and there's also water/beach access. We decided to drive down there and it was absolutely packed with people. Not that anyone could get in the water since it was still freezing, but the sun was enough for people to at least have on tank tops, flip flops, etc... trying to catch whatever little bit of Vitamin D that they could.
Howard loved it- and got to step into the water for the first time. And then of course proceeded to drink it -- salt water is not good for dogs... or humans either...-- he was a little afraid of the waves coming up on shore though. But he was so cute. Here are pics from our day in the sun!!
Getting some much deserved praise...
